SAFOTO WEB GALLERIES • Guidelines for online exhibition proposals

We host two On-Line Exhibition Series a year in the SAFOTO WEB GALLERIES: one in the Spring, and one in the Fall in conjunction with FOTOSEPTIEMBRE USA. Up to ten individual artists or group exhibits are featured in our web galleriy exhibits. All web exhibits are curated by Michael Mehl (Festival Director) or by other designated guest curators. SAFOTO WEB GALLERIES exhibits remain on display for about six months. Promotional mailings announce and support each exhibit season.

There is an open call for entries for both the Spring and the Fall exhibit series. All photographers and photo-based artists are encouraged to enter their work.

Please follow instructions carefully. Entries that do not conform to our guidelines will not be included in the curatorial process.

SAFOTO WEB GALLERIES DEADLINES

January 1 for the Spring exhibition series and July 1 for the Fall exhibition series. All late entries will be rolled over into the following season’s curatorial process.

CONDITIONS

We do not guarantee an exhibit in our web galleries. For a body of work to qualify for the SAFOTO WEB GALLERIES, the images must fit the curator's selection criteria, which includes, but is not limited to, cohesiveness, consistency, and image quality.

SENDING IMAGES

  1. Send 20 - 40 images from a consistent, coherent, recent body of work.
  2. The images sent for review should be 8 x 10 inches at 72 DPI on a CD or 100 MB Zip disk. Final selected images should be reproduction-quality digital files on a CD or 100 MB ZIP Disk. Digital files should be 8 x 10 inches at 300 DPI. Photoshop TIFF or JPEG files only. All files should be Macintosh compatible. Reproduction quality prints no larger than 8 x 10 inches are also acceptable. Reproduction quality slides are acceptable for viewing, but digital files will be required for selected images to be placed in a web gallery exhibit. DO NOT E-MAIL IMAGES!
  3. Fill out the SAFOTO WEB GALLERIES ENTRY FORM.
  4. Include a brief, typewritten bio or resume.
  5. Include a SASE or sufficient postage for your package if you want it returned. Accepted images or CD's will become part of our archives and will not be returned.
